Keep in mind that shipping damage can be the most difficult and time consuming part of a repair.
Therefore take the time and effort to see that your product is packaged properly.
I used to work for UPS where I would load as minimum, a 40 foot semi-trailer, bottom to top in 4 hours by myself
and by hand.
My advice, pack it well!
Following are some general guidelines that will help.
1) Always start with a good box. If the integrity of the box is comprimised the product is at risk.
This is especially true when sending power supplies.
Use a heavy cardboard box. If necessary double box it.
2) Always center the unit in the box. Many times we receive product with an inch of packing material
on the bottom and six inches on top. Center the unit and provide at least two inches of packing material on all sides. Be
sure the material is packed firmly, not just peanuts dumped in the box.
3) Secure the unit. Do not allow the unit to shift around in the box. Stuff the material in such a way
that the unit floats in the packing but is not allowed to shift.
I have seen power supplies shift right out of the box.
4) Insure it. Insure it for replacement, but keep in mind some items such as modules and metal work are
simply not available.
